25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written. John 21:25
You want to know something I think about quite often? The library of Alexandria. This has been a slight obsession of mine ever since I read about it in a chapter book I checked out at my elementary school library when I was a kid. When I think about all the stories and histories lost forever, it makes my archivist heart ache. When I read this verse for the first time, a part of me wanted to react the same way. What do you mean, we don’t have all of Jesus’s works recorded? Part of me wishes we could have his whole story from start to finish documented (What did he do before his ministry, too? Don’t think I’ve forgotten about that!)
Sometimes I like to envision it: walls of books detailing every moment. Just imagine it. All of Jesus’s works, every single one, recorded in the minutest detail. As this verse says, there were so many more that the entire story of his life could have filled a whole library. What acts of healing were lost to time? What words of wisdom were kept just between Jesus and his followers? The possibilities are endless, and representative of the impact God and Jesus can have on our lives, if we let him. Think about every moment God has intervened on your behalf. Could it fill libraries? We may not know every single detail, every single instance where God has acted on our behalf. Maybe we don’t have to know right now. Maybe we can just rest in the fact that God is here, present in every chapter of our story. What is known, what is unknown, and what is to come.
Oh yes! Reading "Think about every moment God has intervened on your behalf. Could it fill libraries? We may not know every single detail, every single instance where God has acted on our behalf." ...makes me want to listen to Amy Grant's "Angels" ☺️ https://youtu.be/SDgWSM5hZ6I?si=I8dkPNKO8YqeDf8k
